Why I Chose The Cast

I chose Phil, Owen, Nathan and Patrick as the band for my music video because they work well together and make a good band.
They have good chemistry within the group and that comes through to the camera, which all four members of the ‘band’ love to be in front of. They all play well to the camera and listen well during filming, which was vital because of our time restraint.

Overall, they were brilliant choices for the Ghost Town music video.

Finishing Filming

We finally finished filming, taking shots in the abandoned factories in Treorchy, random shots around Tonypandy and Gelli park.

Today, I'll start editing.

Reshoot

Yesterday, after looking through the footage we had captured, I decided that the quality and quantity of all the shots was just not good enough.
Using the tape, we had problems with pixelation and time-coding. This means that most of the footage was hard to capture and of bad quality.

Today we started the reshoot. Our first scenes all took part in the local skatepark and field.
Later today, we will do the factory shots again.
This time we have people (Phil, Nathan, Owen and Patrick) as a band, so we won't have to reshoot the auditorium scenes. We are now using Joby's camera and I'm hopeful that we'll get enough footage in time to edit for the deadline. I'm sure this is possible, if Joby and I work effectively together.

Final Shots

Today we finally finished filming all the shots for our music video!

We just finished filming the band and the instruments. We have several takes of the song, each take with one less band member. Hopefully these auditorium scenes will add interest to the music video, which is otherwise plain and empty of people.

I have now started capturing the footage onto the computer, and will transfer it all over to the others when it's done.

More Location Filming

Yesterday, the three of us spent the day filming in several locations, finding abandoned buildings etc.

We have come to the conclusion that if we film from streets and other public places, the permissions (that were so hard, and ultimately impossible, to find) won't be needed.

We filmed the original abandoned factories in Treorchy from the street and the public path going along the site.

We then moved onto film the outside of an abandoned church for only a minute or so, also in Treorchy.

Next, we moved onto the large abandoned building in Tonypandy, and moved further into Tonypandy to film a small abandoned shop and some derelict steps.

Finally, we ended the day's shooting in Ponty park, taking shots of the empty bandstand and the statues of Evan and James James.

Today, we are once again hoping to film in the auditorium - this time with the band. With a little luck, today will be our last day filming and then editing can finally begin.

BARRY FILMING!!!!

We finally managed to film in Barry!!

As planned, on Thursday, we met at Barry Island train station and shot the scenes of the beach and promenade.

I arrived at Barry Island, with the help of my friend Christian, at eleven, with the camera.
Joby used the time he was waiting for Rosie to pick up a tripod from the college and wait at the train station. They caught the train and arrived an hour after Christian and I.

By the time they arrived, we had shot a few free-hand shots with the idea of creating an amateur look to the video. When the others did arrive, we shot the still shots and a few steady pans of the scenery.

The whole thing has been shot in colour, with the idea of editing it to black and white.

Today, we captured the footage onto the computers and the hope for tomorrow is to film the band in the auditorium.

Decision

Filming in Barry will be this Thursday. We cannot afford to wait anymore, so whichever group members can attend on Thursday will have to do.
This has been agreed by all three of us.

And Once Again...

We are, yet again, being set back for filming in Barry Island, due to Rosie's illness and Joby's lack of funds at the moment.
This is not frustrating at all. :')

Fundraising - Cake Sale

Today, as one large group, the entire class held a bake sale to raise funds for our music videos.

All-in-all, we earned £18 between us, and this will be divided between the five groups.

This isn't the best result, but my group will be able to pick up the rest of the budget from our own money.

As far as I have worked out, we will only need £21 between us - £7 per person for a return ticket to Barry Island for the filming.

Update - 27th February

Today, Joby and I phoned Glamorgan council again and finally booked a definite date and all the locations for filming in Barry Island.
Filming there will be this Thursday.

Joby was also in charge of phoning Treorchy council to find permission to film in the abandoned factories. We didn't get very far, but we managed to find the post code of the location and we now know that the factories are privately owned.

I also made another, more detailed version of the storyboards today, and Joby did the same for the camera script.

The cake sale for raising funds has been scheduled for tomorrow. We are doing this in a larger group, and will split the profits equally.

All seems to be going well, even though we've been set back considerably by the permissions and other factors.
